English for Specific Purposes (ESP) seeks to meet the particular needs of certain groups of students and professionals using methodology and activities relevant to each discipline. It focuses on and contextualizes the appropriate use of language in terms of grammar, register, student competencies, discourse, and genre. Proposals made under this modality will focus on the impact that ESP has on language teaching, as well as how English for Specific Purposes could prepare students to become agents of change in a globalized world. This includes areas such as specialized terminology, technical English, methodology based on specific activities, teacher training, didactics for English for specific purposes and curricular evaluation.
